The Study - Chapter 47 It's been a long weekend.

Under the ocean, the concepts of weekends and holidays were lost to Long Legs. They made no sense. He knew the difference between day and night – during the day, the sun was out and the water was cooler, and during the night, it was harder to see and the water was warmer. But there were no weekends, no days off. Long Legs was very confused the first Saturday, when none of the Continentals returned to study him or tap on their little machines that they held in their hands. The only land dwellers he sees on Saturdays and Sundays are custodians, who feed him and check the water and then leave.

The Study - Chapter 46 Rokella hasn't been this relieved in a long time. Probably not since she won that audition for the dance academy she went to for college (Even if her competitor got the scholarship, too. But she supposes it all works out, since they ended up in a relationship anyway). Either way, the only thing that compares to that moment of relief is when she got that phone call from Judge Michaels, explaining that for whatever reason that Rokella doesn't care about, the trial is being put on hold.

There is nothing in the world that could make her happier right now. Except for maybe drugs. But Rokella doesn't bother with those.

The Study - Chapter 45 The Eavesdropper is, as usual, bored, and, as usual, alone. He came to the restaurant because he had nothing better to do at home, and didn't really feel like cooking. Plus, he was really craving Pasta Penne.

He finished dinner long ago, however, and settled among the bar because it is the best spot for eavesdropping. If you drink slowly, you don't draw up a hefty tab, and it is in the middle of the restaurant, so you can hear anything around you. He likes to listen to other peoples' conversations. The Study - Chapter 44 Small Feet, like the rest of the tribe, is worried as they swim into the Trading Center. Yes, they heard the welcoming signals, but nobody missed the absence of voices when the call was first released. She can't help but worry. What on earth could have happened? Alone, an Oceanic is weak, vulnerable. A single shark could take them out easily. But Small Feet has never seen so many Oceanics in one place at the same time than in the Trading Center. And it is so close to the coast – there are hardly any creatures that would dare come near, in fear of being beached.

The Study - Chapter 43 Tanned Skin is, as usual, chatty today.

He got over his guilt and shame quite some time ago, and now that there is another Trading Apprentice in the group, he has taken the duty upon himself to teach Spotted Skin everything he knows about the occupation. It isn't much, admittedly, as he never paid attention to Wide Eyes when she was teaching him, but at the very least, Spotted Skin is listening to him.

The Study - Chapter 42 When Jenner and Lennox both get calls on their handhelds within twenty seconds of each other, it is very suspicious. All of the workers in the general area who are interested in the case (which is indeed all of them) swarm towards the two clients, waiting for the news. Lennox answers quickly, with yeses and nos and uh-huhs and uh-uhs. Jenner is much more elaborate with her responses – she actually answers with a pleasant "Hello, Jolissa," for one. All of the workers – Loria, Grady, Dixie, Trav, Remell, Woon, Marton, Dez, Sasha – are crowded around in a large circle, leaning one ear forward, as if it were a choreographed routine
